My over-fifty business life became really busy these last few weeks, as I became involved, temporarily, in onboarding a new project. The “business” element began to take over. When I woke up at 3 a.m. thinking about the project, it was also a wake up call on how important it is to balance work and life. So, I took a step back and am re-engineering the project to bring the “life” element, that is so important, in balance.

No matter how old or young, experienced or a novice, it is easy to lose your way and let one or the other side of “work-life” take over. Whenever I feel I am losing direction, I pause a moment and take a step back to re-assess. While life-work balance is never a perfect 50-50 event, pausing and deciding what actions are needed for you, keeps the entire thing going.

The Harvard Review article, Work-Life Balance is a Cycle, not an achievement, provides insight into managing the delicate balance between work and life.
