The Seasons Of Business

It is the end of January and still winter…yet, as I walked outside yesterday, there was just a hint of the Spring to come.  The sun was a bit warmer and the air had the crisp smell of rain evaporating off the earth.  Jim Rohn wrote the book, “The Seasons of Life” and compared each season to the cycle of life. Owning a sideline business also has its seasons. Attitude is everything in how you view the seasons of a business.

What are the business seasons?

  • Business in winter season can be a time of planning, challenge or change.
  • Spring season for a business is the time to plant, nurture and execute ideas that will bring growth.
  • Summertime can be exciting, frustrating, and exhilarating all at the same time. If the right ideas were nurtured, the biggest challenge may be how to manage the growth.
  • Fall is a time to reap the success for your business.

Winter – The season of planning, challenge or change

you’ll end up someplace else.”

Are you considering a sideline business, but don’t know where to start?  Always start with a plan. The term “business plan” can be intimidating, BUT it doesn’t have to be. Here is story from Entrepreneur Magazine that features five successful businesses that were planned on a cocktail napkin. There are also traditional courses that teach you how to write a business plan. The SBA site (sba.gov) contains a learning center with an entire section for planning.

We will feature more information and resources on the seasons of business.
